Implant restorations

Dental implants are a first-choice solution to replace missing teeth. Among their many advantages is versatility: they can firmly replace a varying number of teeth. These small metal posts screwed into the jaw can support different dental restorations: crown, bridge, partial denture, complete denture. This way, an incomplete set of teeth can regain all its function.

Implants: an advantageous replacement option

Dental implants are small screws made of titanium (in most cases) surgically placed in the jaw to support replacement teeth (single or multiple). Through a process called osseointegration, implants become part of the bone, so they can firmly support a crown, a bridge or a denture (partial or complete). Implants can therefore replace a varying number of teeth and adapt to many situations. The resulting restoration is stable, comfortable, durable and attractive, even more so than traditional restorations and dentures.

Restorations for a range of situations

  • The implant crown: A single replacement tooth screwed directly onto an implant. It is used when only one tooth needs replacing, or several that are spaced apart. An implant crown is (most of the time) better than a fixed bridge used for the same purpose, since it holds more firmly and leaves the neighbouring teeth intact.
  • The implant bridge: It replaces three, sometimes four, missing teeth. It consists of a pontic (a “suspended” tooth) and two abutments (crowns each attached to an implant).
  • The implant-supported partial denture: A limited series of artificial teeth set in imitation gums made of acrylic resin. A metal framework with attachments fixes it onto implants (two or three on average).
  • The implant-supported complete denture: It replaces all the teeth of a jaw. There are different models, which differ mainly in the type of attachment (locators, bars, etc.) and the number of supporting implants.

Implant restorations: stable and attractive

Implant restorations and dentures combine the advantages of their traditional versions with those of dental implants, including their ability to stimulate the jawbone. This prevents the jaw from thinning. Attaching to implants also gives replacement teeth a better fit, which makes them more attractive and comfortable.
